- The Pick Data block lets adding a question that requires the respondent's answer to the chat. The answers may be sent as text, attached files, or an answer selection from the list.
- To add a Pick Data block to the bot's layout, open the Bots section and select the bot you want to edit.
- Click on the plus sign and select Pick Data.
- A sidebar with the Data, Question and Variable fields will open.
- The Data field lets you select the type of the respondent's answer: Text, List, File.
- If you want to receive a reply from the respondent as a text message, click on the Data field and select Text from the dropdown menu.
- Enter the question text in the Question field. The question will be added to the bot's layout automatically. The respondent will see a field for entering text when he/she reaches this block in the conversation.
- To take the respondent's answer into account and customize the bot's messages, assign a variable to it. To do that, enter the variable's value in the Variable field (name, address, orgtype, etc.). During a conversation, the system will assign the matching variable to the answer that the respondent selects.
- If you need the respondent to choose an answer from a list just like when using the Selection block but you don't want the answers to affect the layout's structure, click on the "Data" field and select Lists.
- Type the question text in the Question field. The question will be added to the bot's layout automatically.
- Type the answer choices in the List field (enter one answer per line). The system will convert them to answer choices in the conversation.
- The respondent will be able to select an answer from the list.
- If you want the respondent to upload files to the chat, click on the Data field and select File from the dropdown list.
- Enter the question text in the Question field. The question will be added to the bot's layout automatically.
- The respondent will be able to upload files to the chat.
- You can edit the messages in the Pick Data block at any time. To do that, click on the block on the layout and edit the text in the Question field. All changes will be saved automatically.
- To delete a Pick Data block, click on the ⋮ icon in the right sidebar and select Delete block.
Note: respondents can upload several files in one go as a response to the Pick Data block's File field. There are no limitations to the number of files or their size. The user and the respondent can click on any file posted to the conversation by clicking on it.
